Evaluation:
  • Homework: 20% of your grade.
  • Tests: three 60 minute tests, worth approximately 13.3% of your grade each (40% total)
  • The Final Exam: one 120 minute exam, cumulative, worth 40% of your grade

Homework consists of:

  • A small number of problems due on lecture days throughout the week. Selected problems each day will be graded for correctness.
  • A large number of problems due on the first lecture day of the week. These will be graded (typically) for completion. At my discretion I may also grade select problems.
As a general rule, late homework is not accepted. You may work together on all types of homework problems. If you do, the goal should be that each person understands and writes their own solution. Do not misrepresent someone elses work as your own.

Points will be deducted if:
  • Your homework is not held together by a staple or paper clip. Folded corners are not acceptable! (This only applies to multi-page assignments.)
  • Your first and last name is not at the top of the first page.
  • Your homework page(s) have a fringe running down the side as a result of being torn out of a spiral notebook.
  • Your homework page(s) are not single-sided. Makes grading much easier!
  • Your homework is not neatly written. Makes grading possible!
Rules for tests and exams: All tests and exams are closed book, no calculators. For all tests and exams you may bring a single sided, standard sized page of notes. There are no make ups or retakes for missing class or poor performance.
