Text: Principles of Mathematical Analysis, Third edition by Walter Rudin. We plan to cover the first 7 Chapters of the book.

Course Description: From the registrar: "A study of the foundations of the differential and integral calculus, including the real numbers and elementary topology, continuous and differentiable functions, uniform convergence of series of functions, and inverse and implicit function theorems. MATH 508-509 is a masters level version of this course."


Grading Policy

Your grade for the course will be determined based on the following factors:

First Midterm Exam : 15%
Second Midterm Exam : 20%
Final Exam: 25%
Homework and Lab: 40%


Exams

Midterm Exam I: In class, Tuesday Febrary 16th.

Midterm Exam II: In class, Tuesday March 22nd.

Final Exam : TBA


Homework

This course will feature weekly homework assignments. Homework will be posted on Canvas, roughly one week before the due date. Submissions must be submitted to Sea Moon Cho before 2pm on Friday. Collaboration on homework assignments is encouraged, but any work you turn in must be your own. If you collaborate with other students, please write down their names. Late homework will not be accepted but I will drop two of your lowest homework scores.
