About two-thirds of the class did quite well on the exam (with about a quarter of the class doing extremely well). The other third of the class had grades that were quite spread out, with some scores not far below the top group, and other scores much lower. As a reflection of this, the bottom scores in the top quartile, second quartile, and third quartile were 98, 92 (median), and 80. The most common score was 100. To give an idea of how to interpret the numerical grades, scores of 85 and above can be viewed as in the A range (from A- to A+); those between 62 and 84 can be viewed as in the B range (from B- to B+); and those between 40 and 61 can be viewed as in the C range (from C- to C+).
