Information on Exam 3 for Math 116, Fall 2018

Exam 3 was held on Monday, Dec. 10. The exam was out of a total of 100 points (five problems worth 20 points each, with partial credit given). This exam counts for 20% of the course grade. The other two exams also each count for 20% of the course grade. Quizzes and recitation participation together count for 15% of the course grade, while homework and class participation count for 25%.

The overall distribution on Exam 3 was similar to Exam 2. The median score was 89. The cutoffs for the other quartiles were 80 and 94.

To interpret the numerical scores as letter grades, the following can be used as a guideline for this exam:

In computing the course grades, the numerical scores on exams will be used, in conjunction with the letter grade guidelines. As a result, for example, a high B+ on this exam will count for almost as much as a low A- (and similarly for the other cut-offs).
