Colloquia, Seminars, and Lecture Series

The Applied Mathematics and Computational Science  Colloquium meets on  Friday afternoons at 2:00PM during the semester. The lectures are presented by prominent outside experts in various aspect of AMCS as well as Penn faculty.All graduate students are encouraged to attend, first year students are required to attend. 

There are many weekly seminars in a wide range of departments throughout the university, where lecturers, mostly from other institutions, speak about current research. Advanced graduate students are expected to regularly attend at least one of these seminars. 

The Mathematics Department publishes the "Philadelphia Area Mathematical Calendar" weekly, in which mathematical activities are detailed.
